Spring is bipolar

Two days ago we woke up to this.....
The day before I was walking around in capris and flip flops....
It snowed most of the morning....

The poor birds won't be able to find the bird house...
Our roof is an avalanche waiting to happen...

It is so beautiful though.....
If I could ski, I would have headed right for the slopes....
Nothing beats Epic Spring Powder Days.....

The snow melted by the afternoon and we have had sunny days since.....
So, here we wait for our next big March storm....
And the greatest snow on earth....

Where do I begin......

When you don't blog for a while a lot happens that isn't blogged about.....
Weird how that works eh?
These are just a few random pictures of our daily lives that may or may not entertain.
I can say that things have been busy lately. I'm starting to go into full nesting mode, with bouts of exhaustion here and there. I have some bad pregnancy insomnia which has led to some unproductive behavior (such as falling into a stuppor after work and watching too much "Ramsey's kitchen nightmares"...that guy is such an a**, but I can't stop watching him). I have been working on my baking skills 'cause guys like girls with skills...like baking skills and laundry skills and juggling knives skills...and it has been awesome. I got a great recipe for bread from Jakes mom and have made the best homemade cinnamon rolls EVER. Perhaps I need to work on my humble skills...hmmmm. Jake loves them anyway. I've also been making snickerdoodles, and oatmeal raisin cookies, and challah of course. I'm pretty sure this is a Jewish household. Pretty sure.

Don't they look AWESOME! Pilsbury's got nothing on me, or rather, Jake's mom (it is her recipe).

Isaac is a very stylish young man. Since we now live in Heber it's only appropriate that he has a hunter orange vest. No young man in Heber should be without a hunter orange vest. Thank you Old Navy.

We have been heating our house with firewood, which I recommend if you can do it. Our gas bill last year was astronomical. I'm talking $400 big ones a month. Blah. So last summer we spent some of our weekends sawing down dead trees, loading them into the truck and trailer and hauling them down from the Uintas. We figured that five cords of wood would get us through the winter, so we sold a few of the cords. Unfortunately, we ran out of wood about mid-december. Our gas bill went from 70 bucks to almost 200 and our electric bill jumped just as much! Luckily we got some wood from Jake's brother and hopefully that will get us through the rest of the winter. Bills aren't the only reason to use wood up here in old H-town. It's just cool to stoke the fire, play checkers with Isaac in front of it, and get dressed in the morning next to it. Honestly, who doesn't like fire.

When we were up in Montana this last time we bought Isaac a RED RIDER BB GUN. If you haven't seen A Christmas Story you can stop reading right now. Jake had never seen that movie and I was shocked. I thought everyone saw that movie.
I didn't even know they still had those guns, so it was an impulse buy for sure and honestly we got it as much for me as for Isaac. I've always wanted a BB gun and a really fast remote control truck. Don't ask me why, just childhood longings. The gun rocks! Isaac climbs up his tree house and shoots targets from there. Awesome.

On a side note- Aunt Suzanne and Kristy I can't see your blogs for some reason. Do you know why that might be?

I miss skiing but.....

Seriously. This picture is just funny. It has absolutely nothing to do with this particular blog, but I found it as I was downloading pictures from my phone. My husband is one special guy.

Back to the point. I can't ski. I tried, but my lack of balance (due to the squirmy bowling ball in my belly) makes me look like I'm a beginner and quite frankly I'm afraid of falling on the little dude. He's still baking, so I don't want him to come out early. Fortunately for me this snow this year has been dismal, so I don't pine for the slopes quite as much as I would if there was day after day of beautiful powder snow. I have found different ways to enjoy the winter, as you will see below. Isaac, Jake, Trout, Bear, Chico and I decided to play around on a very frozen pond that's a just 5 min. from our house.

We made this guy somewhat out in the middle of the pond. I decided to call him Mr. Belvedere (remember that show?) because his eyes and buttons are made of chocolate truffles...talk about sophisticated.

What would playing on a frozen pond be without a snow angel??

It's not skiing, but it was a heck of a time. We'll see how long this little butler lasts.

Isaac is 8!!!

Well, he turned 8 on the 30th of December, I'm just such a bad blogger I haven't posted about it yet. So here is an outline of his day:

He woke up at Grandma Betsy's house who, in case you didn't know, is the greatest Grandma in the whole wide world. She took him and his cousin Fischer to the Aquarium in Sandy and to Chucky Cheese! Isaac got to open his presents before they went and one of them was a camera, so he took a bunch of pictures of the fun they had. Before Grandma Betsy brought him to me (I had to work all day-very sad..) Isaac picked out a birthday cake. I believe it was his second cake that day. Isaac and I then drove out to the Kamas pool where we met up with Dad aka Mohawkbeardguy and Isaac's cousins Zippy and Izard. We swam for an hour and a half- jumped off the high dive (ok, just Jake and I did that), went down the big slide and just plain played around. Afterwards, we went to the Kamas pizza place and Isaac opened up his presents and ate cake and pizza with his cousins. As we drove home from Kamas, Isaac turned to me and said, "This is the best birthday ever!"

Success.

P.S. Happy New Years!

Belly Pics!!

So here they are....you can now witness my slow progression from medium to large.....

Blogger won't let me post anymore pics....I promise our lives are more exciting than it seems.

Been a while....

So I went through this "i hate social networking, computers and all that garbage" stage. I got over it, but it lasted like a bad flu. Anywhoo.. a bunch has happened. Isaac is bigger, Jake has a big old beard and I have a big old belly. We are all just growing....something, at least. So that's the big news. In April we will be welcoming the fourth lucky duck, who already has a name- Geronimo Jackson Smith. No, that's not a joke. This kid will either love his name or really hate his parents. I currently call him Mr. Mo, because it's cute and I like it. We will see if it catches on. If anyone can think of other good nicknames for Geronimo (EXCEPT Gerry, 'cause I vetoed that) let me know.

Here are some random pics of our crazy lives.

Quack on.
